Snow totals reported after a Dec. 13-14 snowstorm blew through Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, according to the National Weather Service.

MAINE, USA — An overnight storm into Christmas Eve has set Maine up for a white Christmas, after all. Some Mainers dug out their rulers and stomped their way through the snow to measure totals well over a foot in Androscoggin and Cumberland Counties. Others cozied up inside and took in the view.

The outlook for significant snowfall at Colorado ski resorts through the end of the year remains grim, even as most resorts report severely limited terrain offerings. Early January doesn’t look good, either, according to OpenSnow founding meteorologist Joel Gratz.

A wet, active pattern is expected to continue through December 27, 2025, but snow is eventually expected to fall at ski resorts across California, Utah, the Northern Rockies, and the peaks of the Pacific Northwest.

The Pittsburgh region received a weekend blast of winter weather, including heavy snowfall in many places south of Pittsburgh. KDKA-TV's Chilekasi Adele reports from Washington County.

The heaviest snowfall was reported in Jefferson County, where Copenhagen recorded 8.5 inches, the highest total statewide. Nearby areas east of Lake Ontario also saw significant snow, including Oswego (5.5 inches) and Mexico in Oswego County (4.8 inches).

The snowfall in 2025 was triggered by a sharp drop in temperatures, with some locations falling below zero degrees Celsius, combined with rain-bearing thunderclouds.
