The first steam train of the year to pass along the iconic Dawlish sea wall was the Railway Touring Company's Great Britain XII Tour. Hauled by LMS Coronation Class 46233 Duchess of Sutherland in it's crimson colours. The train ran from Paddington to Plymouth on day one of the tour using headcode 1Z20. On Saturday 28th May the "South Devon Explorer" rail charter from Woking to Plymouth passed through Dawlish and Teignmouth powered by LMS 6233 Duchess of Sutherland. The train stopped at Dawlish Warren to allow the Paddington to Penzance service express to pass it.
